The Repose Series

After a long period of stress and difficulty, I travelled to The Site of Reversible Destiny in Gifu. This architectural park was created by famous architects Shusaku Arakawa + Madeline Gins. Their philosophy for design is about keeping the mind active into old age by making unusual, playful spaces that put you in the mindset of a child.

“If I go to this park, which sounds like a mystical place from an anime or video game, can I take back all the negative things I’ve experienced?” I thought.

After a long and arduous quest, this series of photos expresses safety, relief and coming home to one's self. The two main photographs of the series ‘Repose’ and ‘Future Arrow’ remind us to take the time to rest, in order to move on towards the future.

ストレスのあった長い期間の後、岐阜県の養老天命反転地に旅行に行きました。この建築物のある公園は荒川修作とマデドンギンスと言う有名な建築家達の建てたものです。このデザイン哲学は、非日常の遊びスペースを作ることによって、子供の精神体験して楽しむことが出来るし、老人になったら、アクティブな精神を維持することができます。

このアニメやPCゲームのような神秘的な公園に行けば、私のネガティブな体験したことを反転するのが出来るだろうか？と思いました。

長くて難しい探求の末、この写真シリーズになりました。安全、安心と自分に帰る気持ちを表せっているシリーズになりました。シリーズのメイン写真、『Repose』と『Future Arrow』という写真は、未来に続くために休む時間の重要性、を表すシリーズなのです。
